HERE are some pics of our little Wilder at a week old. He is a delight!
I promise he's not that orange in "real life"--it's the lighting.Aug 28, 2008

Home At Last-With Our Baby!
OUR Wilder Raine Dunning Harris was born on Tuesday, August 19, 2008, at 4:42 p.m., weighing 7 pounds, 7 ounces, and measuring 20 inches long. We had an extended stay at the hospital but are finally home and improving every day! Family will be staying with us to lend extra hands, since Wilder seems to think night is day, and vice versa!

40 Weeks! We made it! (well, almost)
IT'S hard to say for sure how big your baby will be, but the average newborn weighs about 7 1/2 pounds (a small pumpkin) and is about 20 inches long. His skull bones are not yet fused, which allows them to overlap a bit if it's a snug fit through the birth canal during labor. This so-called "molding" is the reason your baby's noggin may look a little conehead-ish after birth. Rest assured — it's normal and temporary.

When Will We Become A Family of Three?

39 Weeks!
YOUR baby's waiting to greet the world! He continues to build a layer of fat to help control his body temperature after birth, but it's likely he already measures about 20 inches and weighs a bit over 7 pounds, a mini watermelon. (Boys tend to be slightly heavier than girls.) The outer layers of his skin are sloughing off as new skin forms underneath.

Baby Shower
MY sisters, mom, sis-in-law, and mom-in-law pitched in to throw Baby PeaNut and I the best shower ever! My sisters and their spouses stayed at our house for the weekend (of July 26), and it was such a joy to have a full house! Although, the day of the shower, they got down to business and I wasn't allowed to help out or fret over anyone (that was hard for me to do)! The decor was grey, white, and orange, like the nursery! They even showcased little toy dinosaurs, balloons, streamers, fresh flowers, orange candles...the whole works! The food was amazing as well--Connie's Cookies, black bean/corn salsa, crisp veggies, spinache/artichoke appetizers, fresh strawberries, orange punch....the list goes on! I was so blessed to share the evening with close friends and family--to enjoy our back patio and obsess over all things baby! Thank you, guests, for attending, and thank you, my family, for all your hard work!

38 Weeks
YOUR baby has really plumped up. He weighs about 6.8 pounds and he's over 19 1/2 inches long (like a leek). He has a firm grasp, which you'll soon be able to test when you hold his hand for the first time! His organs have matured and are ready for life outside the womb.
Wondering what color your baby's eyes will be? You may not be able to tell right away. If he's born with brown eyes, they'll likely stay brown. If he's born with steel gray or dark blue eyes, they may stay gray or blue or turn green, hazel, or brown by the time he's 9 months old. That's because a child's irises may gain more pigment in the months after he's born, but they usually won't get "lighter" or more blue. (Green, hazel, and brown eyes have more pigment than gray or blue eyes.)
Developments:
~Most of our things are at least gathered, if not packed, for the hospital stay
~On the upswing (I hope) of recovering from a "doozie" of a virus (chronic cough, sore throat, ear ache, headache, insomnia, nosebleeds). Today's the first day I wore makeup and went somewhere other than to the doctor.
~Baby's movements feel like he's stretching rather than kicking (seeing elbows, feet!)
